推荐图表作文中常用的一些词汇from Pat
go up/ increase/ grow/ rise/ ascend
其中,rise和increase也可以作名词。另外名词的上升/下降还经常可以用 an upward/downwardtrend来表达。
e.g.:
Expenditure on resources such as books had increased to 20% by1991 before decreasing to only 9% by the end of the period.
The consumption of chicken showed an upward trend, exceedingthat of lamb in 1980.“超过”可以用exceed/ overtake/ surpass表达。
表示急剧上升的动词:
jump/ shoot up/ surge/ soar其中surge也可以作名词用。
e.g.:
The spending on research and development soared to 2.7 millionpounds in 1990.
表示下降的动词:
decline/ dip/ fall/ decrease/ drop/ descend/ sink
其中decline, fall, drop, decrease也经常作名词用。
e.g.:
Other workers salaries saw a fall from 28% in 1981 to only 15%of spending in 2001.
The figure for the US dipped to only 4% for much of this period,which was the lowest in the figures for these countries.
表示急剧下降的动词:
plummet/ plunge/ slump
e.g.:

be made up of/ be composed of/ consist of/ comprise/ becomprised of
e.g.:

表示波动的动词:
fluctuatev.fluctuation n.
这个动词比较重要,是不及物动词,经常搭配为fluctuate between···and ···
e.g.: In spite of some fluctuations in the expected percentages,the proportion of older people will continue to rise in the nexttwo decades.
表示稳定在一个水平上的词组(如果看到一根线里有一段接近于水平线就要触电似地立刻想到这些词组):
level off at/ level out at/ hover at/ stabilise at/ reached aplateau at/ remain stable at
介词搭配都是at哦~:)
e.g.: Its consumption levels remained stable at around 14% overthe three decades.
表示经历了某种变化的及物动词(只要有时间跨度就一定能用得上):
see/ witness/ experience
e.g.:
The cost of furniture and equipment saw an oppositetrend相反的趋势.
The period between 1980 and 1990 witnessed a 15% growth in theservice sector服务业.
表示到达最高点的词组:
peak at/ reach the peak at/ reach the highest point at
注意peak不仅可以作动词,有时也可以当名词使用。
表示到达最低点的词组:
reach the bottom at/ bottom out at/ reach the lowest pointat
其中bottom可以作名词。
表示到达多少数量的及物动词或词组:
reach/ hit/ arrive at/ stand at/ amount to
表示占多少份额的动词(有百分比或者份额的题必用,尤其在piechart里是最爱)
account for/ make up/ represent/ occupy/ constitute前3个较为常用
e.g.:
This cost decreased to only 5% of total expenditure in 1991 butrose dramatically in 2001 when it represented 23% of the schoolbudget.
Commercial buildings accounted for 32% of total energyconsumption in 2007.

表示对将来数字的预测的及物动词:
expect/ predict/ project
请注意这三个单词在作文中经常是以被动形式出现
常用句型:A is expected/ projected/ predicted to reach ...
e.g.: The proportion of elderly people in all three countries isexpected to increase to almost 25%.
表示原本少于但后来超过的及物动词:
exceed/ overtake/ surpass /outstripe.g.: Demand is outstrippingsupply
e.g.: The consumption of chicken, on the other hand, showed anupward trend, overtaking that of lamb in 1980 and that of beef in1989.
表示速度快的形容词:
sharp/ rapid/ dramatic(dramatically)/ drasticdrastically/precipitous/ steep
除特别注明外,副词形式均加 ly。
e.g.: A more dramatic rise is predicted between 2030 and2040.
表示持续的形容词:
gradualgradually/ steadysteadily/ consistent/ continuous/gentlegently/ slow
副词加 ly,其中consistently/continuously表示“持续地(上升或下降)”,而gradually/steadily表示“持续稳步地(上升或下降)”e.g.:
The number of people working as scientists and technicians inindustrialised countries increased steadily from 55 to 85 per 1000people between 1980 and 1990.
Coffee prodction dropped continuously by more than 30% over thefive years between 2004 and 2009.
表示大幅度的形容词
marked/ substantial/ significant/ noticeable
同时请注意substantially是一个很常用的副词,类似的还有近义副词considerably
e.g.: The consumption of fast food also declined, but much lesssignificantly.
表示小幅度的形容词:
modest/ moderate/ slight/ marginal/minimal这个形容词表示“极少的”,请特别注意它与minimum“最少的”之间的细微区别
e.g.:
Italys spending on personal stereos is only marginally greaterthan that of Germany.
The impact of this on North America was minimal, with only 0.2%of land affected.
Water used in the industrial and domestic sectors alsoincreased, but consumption was minimal until mid century.
表示大约的副词或词组:
about/ around/ approximately/ roughly/ just over/ just under
e.g.: In 1940 the proportion of people aged 65 and over stood atapproximately 7% in Sweden.
表示分别的副词:
respectively用在句子结尾,表示两组元素分别对应
e.g.: Globally, 65% of degradation is caused by too much animalgrazing and tree clearance, constituting 35% and 30%respectively.
