Anne stayed in her room all the next day.

第二天安妮整天都呆在房间里。

Downstairs the house was very quiet without her.

That evening, while Marilla was busy in the garden,

Matthew went up to Anne’ room.

马修来到楼上安妮的房间。

The child was sitting sadly by the window.

‘Anne,’ he said shyly, ‘Why don’t you say you’re sorry?

“安妮，”他有些难为情地说，“你为啥不肯道歉？

Then you can come down, and we can all be happy.’

那样你就可以下楼去了，我们大家都可以高高兴兴地了。”

‘I am sorry now,’ said Anne.

“我现在后悔了，”安妮说。

‘I was very angry yesterday! But do you really want me to …’

“昨天我太生气了！可您真想让我去……”

‘Yes, do, please. It’s lonely downstairs without you.

“是，去吧。楼下没有你太冷清了。

But don’t tell Marilla I’ve talked to you.’

但是别让玛丽拉知道是我告诉你的。”

Marilla was pleased to hear that Anne was sorry.

玛丽拉听到安妮愿意道歉非常开心。

Later that evening, when she and Anne were in Mrs. Lynda’s warm kitchen,

那天晚上，当她和安妮在林德太太的厨房里，

Anne suddenly fell on her knees.

安妮突然跪下来。

‘Oh Mrs. Lynda,’ cried the little girl,

“噢，林德太太，”小女孩哭泣着，

‘I’m very sorry. I can’t tell you how sorry I am, so you must just imagine it.

“我非常对不起您。我说不出我有多后悔，所以只能请您想象一下。

I am a bad girl! But pleas say you will forgive me.

我是个坏女孩！但是请您告诉我您会原谅我的。

I’ll be sad all my life if you don’t!’

如果您不原谅我会一辈子都很难过的！”

‘She’s enjoying herself!’ thought Marilla, watching Anne’s face.

“这孩子好像挺享受这些！”玛丽拉看着安妮的表情在想。

‘She doesn’t look sorry at all, but happy and excited!’

“她看上去一点也不难过，倒是有点高兴和兴奋！”

But Mrs. Lynda said kindly, ‘Of course I forgive you.’

德林太太和蔼地说，“我当然原谅你。”

And later she said to Marilla, ‘Perhaps you’ve right to keep her.

后来她对玛丽拉说，“也许你让她留下来是对的。

She’s a strange little thing, but I think I like her.’

她是个特别的小家伙，但我想我挺喜欢她。”
