1) 都表示有能力做某事

She cansing the song in English. 她能用英文唱这首歌。

(can强调自身具有的能力）

He will be able tosing the song in English a few minutes, too.

几分钟后，他也能用英文唱这首歌。

(be able to强调通过努力而获得的能力）

2）can 表示许可；推测

May I come in? Yes, you can. (表许可）

我可以进来吗？ 你可以的。

He can’t be at home now. （表推测）

他现在不可能在家。

be able to 表示成功地做了某事

Luckily, he was able to escape from the big fire in the end.

幸运的是，他最后从大火中逃了出来。

3）can 只用于现在时和一般过去时，be able to 可以用于各种时态

She couldplay the piano when she was five. 她5岁时就会弹钢琴了。（过去）

I canfinish the work before twelve. 我在12点前能完成工作的。（现在）

Heis able to swim. 他会游泳。（现在）

He will be able toswim. 他将会游泳。（将来）
